Fisheries and maritime affairs policy

The Common fisheries policy (CFP) is the European management tool designed to develop fishing and aquaculture while preserving marine biodiversity and resources. It is based on four major pillars:

  • resource preservation and management
  • the common organisation of the markets
  • the structure and management of the European fleet
  • relations with other countries

This policy is funded by the EMFF (formerly EFF).

For the 2014-2020 period, the EMFF has earmarked €588 million for France.
