Rural development policy

Competitive and environmentally friendly agriculture and wood industries, quality food products, rural areas occupied and developed in a well-balanced manner, a diversified rural economy: these are the objectives of the rural development policy. It is commonly known as the "second pillar" of the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP).

It supports and completes the income support policies of the first pillar of the CAP and is consistent with a competitive and innovative economy, in accordance with the principles of sustainable development.

This policy is financed by the EAFRD.

For the 2014-2020 period, the 27 French regions will be allocated €11.4 billion to implement this policy.
