Joël l’HERMITTAGE and Marcel POISSON have been raising goats in Canaples in the Somme department for many years.  Their farm, "la chèvrerie de Canaples", welcomes more than 5,000 visitors per year, eager to discover the goat farm and taste the fromage frais production.

The goat farm is involved in three types of activity:

-  Cheese production,

-  Direct sales in markets and the farm shop,

-  Educational farm.

The European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD) participated in the funding of a refrigerated truck. This new truck allows the Canaples goat farm to participate in a number of markets in the Somme department every week (Corbie, Dury, Villers-Bocage, Amiens, etc.) in ideal conditions.

In addition, a point of sale was created within the farm itself. Three times a week (on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday afternoon), visitors to the educational farm or seasoned consumers can come and buy their fresh goat's cheese on site.

The cheese is therefore sold directly to the customers, who are particularly fond of the farm's speciality, the Bicottin, gold medallist at the La Cappelle fair.

"Thanks to European aid, we were able to buy a truck. This reassures our customers. When they want to buy our cheese, they know it is preserved and presented in a professional manner".
