      It is the French section of the Council of European Municipalities and Regions (CCRE), a European organisation involving more than 100,000 territorial authorities in Europe.

    • On 20 September 2007, the European Commission approved a transnational cooperation programme between Germany, France, Italy, Austria and Slovenia (with the participation of Liechtenstein and Switzerland) for the 2007-2013 period. The total budget of this "Alpine Space Programme" is approximately €130 million.

    • The Assembly of European Regions is the broadest independent network of regions in the European Union.
      With more than 270 regions from 33 countries and 16 inter-regional organisations, the AER's mission is to:

      - promote the principle of subsidiarity and regional democracy,
      - increase the political influence of the regions on European Institutions,
      - assist the regions with the European enlargement process and globalisation,
      - encourage inter-regional cooperation throughout Europe and beyond.
